Linda Pilkington, the founder of Ormonde Jayne, was born in a quiet village in Cheshire, England. From an early age, she showed a flair for creativity: crafting beeswax candles dyed black, designing room sprays housed in antique bottles, and experimenting with recipes for homemade chocolate and ice cream.

She recorded all her ideas in handmade envelopes sealed with black wax. Collecting antique perfume bottles sparked her passion for perfumery. A gifted bottle of Madame Rochas, with its cognac hue and sculptural form, became Linda’s gateway into the world of fragrances.

Linda’s youth was spent traveling across the Middle East, Asia, and South America. In South America, she opened an upscale ice cream café, offering unique flavor and scent combinations inspired by local cultures. Returning to London in the 1990s, Linda received an unexpected commission from Chanel Fine Jewellery to create a scented candle matching the decor of Coco Chanel’s apartment at the Ritz in Paris. After months of experimentation, she fulfilled the order for 50 candles, marking the starting point for registering Ormonde Jayne. The brand’s name combines her middle name (Jayne) and Ormonde Terrace, the street where her first studio was located. Word of her talent spread quickly, attracting commissions from luxury brands.
